The United Way of Jefferson County Needs Your Help!
December 19, 2011
Dear Friends:
Once a year, each of us has a chance to make a big difference in the lives of local people by donating to the United Way of Jefferson County’s fundraising campaign. By giving to the United Way, area residents like you can help members of the community in which we live and work. Please join me in investing in our community in a way that has measurable results. Our fundraising efforts are down this year and we want to reach our goal so that we do not have to cutback funding to our member agencies. We appreciate every contribution, no matter how big or small. Small investments can have a big impact on our 19 member agencies. For example, a donation of just $1 a week to the United Way can help provide:
An estimated 500 pounds of food. (Smithfield Food Pantry)
An estimated five hours of counseling. (Family Service Association)
Shelter for one family for one night following a house fire. (Red Cross)
Think about how important this would be to you and your family if you were hungry, hurting or your house had just burned down. These are just a few examples of how your donation is put to work in our community. If everyone would just give a little, we would be able to reach our goal. Will you help us?
Sincerely,
Nancy Jo Grim
Executive Director
